Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Examo, Loki AI, pricing, and how the platform fits into your study routine.
Is Examo free?
Yes — Examo has a permanent free tier with no credit card required. Free users can create courses and use preview weeks, Loki text tutoring, summaries, study tools, and exam practice within monthly usage limits. Pro unlocks every week, higher AI limits, audio summaries, essay assistance, configured exams, and Loki calls.
What's included in Pro vs Free?
Free gives you course creation plus preview-week summaries, study tools, Loki text tutoring, and practice questions with monthly caps that reset each month. Pro unlocks every week, audio summaries, configured exams, essay assistance, Loki calls, higher AI usage, and priority support. Pro Monthly is €18.99/month. Pro Annual is €13.99/month billed yearly.
How is Examo different from ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a general-purpose chatbot. Examo is purpose-built for studying. Loki AI is grounded in your specific course materials, not the open web — so the answers you get are tied to your syllabus, your lecture notes, and the way your university teaches the topic. Examo also generates structured summaries, exam-style practice questions with grading, cheat sheets, and timed mock exams. ChatGPT can't do any of that natively, and won't reliably stay inside the scope of your course.
What subjects does Examo support?
Examo is subject-agnostic and works for any university-level course. STEM works seamlessly with full math and LaTeX rendering (powered by MathJax and MathLive). Humanities, business, law, medicine, social sciences — all supported. If your course materials are in PDF or text form, Examo can ingest them.
How do I get started?
Sign up for free at examo.me/signup. Upload your syllabus or course outline (PDF works best), and Examo's AI will analyze it and build a structured course with weeks, topics, summaries, and practice materials. From there you can chat with Loki AI about any topic in the course, run practice exams, or get help writing essays. The whole onboarding takes under 5 minutes.
Can I share my courses with classmates?
Yes. Every course you build can be shared with classmates via a private link. Recipients add it to their own dashboard for free and study from the same materials, with their own private progress tracking. This is the core of how study groups use Examo — one person sets up the course, the cohort learns together.
Does Examo replace my professors or textbooks?
In practice, yes — for studying. Examo cuts through hours of lectures and dense textbooks, strips out the noise, and delivers only what matters for your exam: sharp summaries, targeted practice questions, and an AI tutor available 24/7. Students no longer need to re-read entire chapters or rewatch recordings — Examo converts that raw material into an interactive, exam-focused format. Your institution still sets the syllabus and grants the degree; Examo just makes mastering the material dramatically faster.
Is using Examo allowed under my university's academic integrity policy?
Examo is a study tool, not a cheating tool. Using it to learn course material, generate practice questions, or get tutoring is the same kind of independent study every university encourages. Submitting AI-generated essays as your own work is a different matter and would violate most universities' policies — that's on the student, not the platform. When in doubt, check your institution's specific guidance on AI tools.
Is my data private?
Yes. Course materials you upload are private to your account. Shared courses are only accessible via the private share link you generate — they're never indexed publicly or used for training. You can delete your data at any time from settings. Full details in our privacy policy at examo.me/privacy-policy.
Where is Examo available?
Examo is a web application at examo.me, accessible from any browser, anywhere in the world. Pricing is in EUR and the platform is designed primarily around European university curricula, but students from any country can use it.
Can I install Examo as an app on my phone or computer?
Yes. Examo is still a website, but most browsers let you install it as an app shortcut. On iPhone or iPad, open examo.me in Safari, tap the Share button, choose Add to Home Screen, then tap Add. On Android, open examo.me in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu, then choose Add to Home screen or Install app. On desktop Chrome or Edge, open examo.me and use the install icon in the address bar, or the browser menu option to install the page as an app. It will open from your home screen, dock, or app launcher while still using the website underneath.
